Rübenmus

To the recipe for 4 persons:

500g potatoes
500g carrots
1 turnip (about 500g)
2 onions
250g streaky bacon
500g Kasseler neck or Kasseler chop
4-6 cooked sausages
Salt pepper
1 pinch of sugar
maybe some broth

Preparation:


The rutabaga is peeled and cut into small cubes, the potatoes and the carrots as well. The meat may be simmered in a pot with some fat (sautéed) and then the onions and bacon (diced) added. Then add the vegetables, season with salt and pepper, fry for a short time and fill up with some broth and cook for about 30 minutes. Then add the boiled sausages (Mettenden) and let it cook for about 15 minutes.

Take out the meat and sausages, stomp the vegetables with a potato masher (do not use a blender), then add the meat and sausages again and perhaps season with freshly ground pepper and a pinch of sugar. The meat is chopped and then added again, the sausages can also be cut into slices or even on the plate - according to taste (I cut them into slices).

Of course you can also slices of cheese necklet or pork chop, then the cooking time is reduced slightly! Then you should also cook the meat slices in the pot on top, so they do not disintegrate!
