Adhesive pads: remove residues from smooth surfaces

Remove residues of Patafix adhesive pads or Pritt adhesive pads from smooth surfaces without chemicals.

(But it does not work on paper or cloth, and greasy stains can be left on untreated surfaces.) I did not even get it out of fabric (tablecloth) after washing it in the machine.)

It goes on smooth surfaces in several steps:

  1. Carefully push off the coarse remains as far as possible with a knife back.
  2. Then with a hair dryer on a small, but hot setting with the left hand on the adhesive residue hold, and with the right hand very carefully scrape with a scraper for a ceramic hob on it and wipe the leftovers in a sheet of kitchen paper. If necessary, repeat more often!
  3. If there are no visible residues, scrub off with a transparent eraser. This can take a while and you have to repeat it until no blunt spots are visible anymore.
  4. Then take hot Prilwasser and wipe a damp microfiber cloth the non-stick surface.

For many years I use these adhesive pads for all sorts of situations where something does not want to stay where I want it to be and I am very satisfied (but warm up and knead before use)!

In the present case, I had a white plastic-coated plate (1.20 cm x 45 cm) glued to a glazed wood furniture with lots of thick pads and now after 7 years it has fallen down and I did not want to re-attach it. So the glue residues had to be removed carefully. The pads were dry and the whole successful action took about 30 minutes!
