Prevent spying by camera from the laptop

I have a little tip, which concerns data by spying, by the laptop built-in camera.

Simply cover the lens with opaque insulating tape. If you need the camera, you can remove the tape again. I've been handling this for years.

Bernhard: @ Orgafrau: a virus can do all these things: the lamp does not light, the device manager tells you that the camera is disabled, but the camera still films. This can be a suitably programmed virus ... That is, you think the camera is not running, but in fact it is just running. I am a computer scientist, I understand something of such things ...

Viruses or malware are programmed exactly so that they should not notice as possible. Therefore, they disguise their tracks and can activate a camera without you noticing it.

I'm not saying that you can not find the tip bad. I say that what you think you realize that your camera is not active, unfortunately does not bring, if you have captured a corresponding virus.
